I am someone who is passionate about English, and is quite educated in the area as well. I have my BA and MA in English from SUNY Binghamton, and am a current PhD student and Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University. I have plenty of experience in teaching and tutoring English, and I view each opportunity to teach as a chance to share my love of English.

I am an effective tutor because tutoring allows me to manifest my passion for teaching English on an individual basis. As a current English professor, working as a tutor allows me to teach in a format that is both fun and helpful to my development as a teacher. I am an effective tutor because I am passionate and educated in the areas I teach, and because I see every opportunity to teach as an opportunity for me to grow.

I have experience both as a teacher and as a tutor. The difference, for me, between the two is that tutors have much more freedom to adjust the material to the student’s needs. As a teacher, each student in a class learns differently, and lessons have to be taught according to the needs of many students. As a tutor, I find it much easier to find the best way for my student to learn, and to format the material so they can best understand it. It is nice to have tutoring become a conversation, so the student can always be actively participating and learn more effectively.
