Nicholas

I graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Classics, and from Harvard-Westlake High School. At Brown, I received the prestigious Sidney Goldstein Memorial Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship, two years in a row. At Harvard-Westlake, I received the Humanitas Award for overall achievement and the Lester Medvene Award for Outstanding Sophomore.

I’ve been tutoring for about seven years, ever since college. I started off doing it as a good way to make some extra money, but quickly discovered that I loved it, and that I wanted to continue doing it after graduation. I love engaging with my students, and helping them surpass their own expectations of themselves.

I specialize in Elementary, Middle, and High School Math and Test Prep. I am especially good at helping students who don’t think of themselves as being especially good at math realize that they are more than good enough to do well on the test or in class. Having helped dozens and dozens of struggling students find their way, I know where students tend to get confused, and how to help them see things more clearly.

As a tutor I am kind, nurturing, patient, and funny. I enjoy finding a rapport with each of my students, and am exceptionally attentive to their individual needs and learning styles. I am also a very good communicator with parents, and include them in any discussions about test prep strategies, or lesson progress.
