Sierra

Hi! I’m Sierra. I’m a recent graduate from the UC Berkeley Anthropology department, a freelance writer, and an experienced academic tutor. As a student at Cal, I tutored high school and college-level students in essay writing, reading comprehension, AP test prep, and general academic organization.

I love the social sciences, literature, and writing, and I also love to share my passion for those things with my students. It’s really important to me that I help my students feel excited about the work they’re doing, even if it’s for a class they usually struggle with — I think that the best way to learn is to find a way to connect personally with the material and with your work. If you’re struggling to keep yourself organized (deadlines, projects, schedules, messy binders, etc.), I can help get you on track with practical tips that got me through university successfully. If you’re dreading an upcoming research project, can’t figure out how to start, structure, or edit an essay, or just can’t make sense of that weird book you’re reading for English class, I can help with that too. I’m here to help you brainstorm, plan, edit, research, analyze, write, and generally talk things out — whether that’s your own ideas for a project, a study plan for an upcoming test, or anything in between. I love watching my students get excited about the things we’re working on, and I guarantee that with a bit of support your English, Humanities, or Social Science courses will suddenly seem a lot less daunting.

When I’m not tutoring, I’m working on my own creative writing projects, updating my personal travel & photography blog, hiking in the Santa Cruz hills, or testing out a new bread recipe. I’m also currently a content writer & community manager for a travel company based in Austin, TX, producing blog posts, website pages, and helping run the company’s social media profiles (just so those writing skills don’t get rusty). Looking forward to working with you!
