About SAT

SAT

The new SAT is here. Our experienced tutors help students ease their fears by giving them authentic guidance. Our students learn useful vocabulary, mathematics, writing, and all of the real secrets so that they can conquer their fears and score higher than they ever have. Each tutoring session will be designed to meet your specific needs. We have all of the necessary preparatory material so that students will feel equipped to study effectively. Most importantly we will be using the ideal study tool—real SATs. Our tutors review both correct and missed questions with the students, explaining each clearly. We believe knowing the reason for a correct answer is as effective as knowing why a question was incorrect. All study programs will be laid out by your selected tutor on a calendar, as well as a day-to-day study schedule. We counsel students on the important, frequently overlooked details and issues in order to best manage their time, like when to use a calculator, prior-night planning, and what to do the morning of test day.

What is in the Post March 2016 SAT?

In competition with the ACT, the College Board has changed their exam to remain popular for students considering college. The exam is no longer scored on a 600-2400 scale, it is now from 400-1600 (200-800 for each section). The essay portion is now optional, but if you would like to apply to an array of universities, it is recommended. You may now guess on the exam without any penalty. The exam may now be taken as a computer based version as well.
The Critical Reading section is now called the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section (which now compiles reading and writing into one section) composed of a 65-minute, 52 question section and a 35-minute, 44 question Writing and Language section. Math has a 25-minute no calculator section and a 55-minute calculator section.

Breakdown

The English section is composed of a 65-minute, 52 question section and a 35-minute, 44 question section.
The Math section is a 25-minute, 20 question (no calculator) section, and a 55-minute, 37 question (calculator) section.
The optional Essay section is a 50-minute, 1 essay section.
Totaling 153 questions and 230 minutes (3 hours and 50 minutes) of examination time.

Should you take the SAT or ACT?

In a nutshell, if you prefer more time per question, the SAT may be best for you. If you enjoy a science section, then the ACT may be best for you. We recommend taking a practice ACT and SAT exam and based on your preliminary scoring, we can help you determine which test to move forward with. Our exam experts have accumulated years of exam preparation material to provide you with an effective tutoring session. Our practice exams will give you a true feel for the most updated SAT exam.
