I have worked with elementary-aged children for six years now in a variety of roles, and in a variety of grade levels. I was a former after school tutor for a nonprofit organization that worked with at-risk children, and I was responsible for children from kindergarten to sixth grade. Currently, I work as an elementary Reading/ELA teacher and I love it more than I can express!

I also had the opportunity to work for the Walt Disney Company as a college intern on two separate occasions and that experience has ingrained a passion to deliver quality, top of the line client satisfaction. I was recognized by Disney theme park managers with several awards praising my excellence in guest service. With the Disney “magic” in my pocket, I also recognize that students should find education engaging and fun, and not just a chore to get through.

I recently accepted an offer to enroll in Sam Houston State University’s M.Ed program in Reading/Language Arts with a dyslexia certification, and I am extremely excited to pursue higher education in order to better serve my students. I have always proven that my strength is in Reading/Language arts; as a high school student, I received a 4 and a 3 on the A.P. Literature exams for my junior and senior year respectively. While I was enrolled in my undergraduate classes, my professors recognized my strength in writing multiple times through class examples and positive critiques.

I firmly believe that education should be a team effort, not driven solely by the teacher, and I include this philosophy in my classroom. If you are looking for a tutor that encourages student-driven results, a positive and welcoming environment, and just a touch of “magic” to make tutoring sessions successful, then I feel that I am your candidate.

Hobbies

When not working with my students, I love to read! I am a huge book nerd; some of my favorite books include "The Lord of the RIngs" trilogy, the Harry Potter series, and "Gone with the Wind". When I'm not reading, I enjoy swimming and being outside with my German Shorthaired Pointer puppy, Jett.
